By day, I'm a domestic violence prosecutor. By night, I read romance to restore my faith in love, relationships, and humanity in general.

Not Sexy, but Very Poignant

Making It Last - Ruthie Knox

Tony and Amber have been together for thirteen years and three rambunctious, needy sons. Money is tight, Tony works too much, and Amber feels like she's disappearing under the strain of managing home and family with no outlet for herself. They're both miserable, but both want to find a way to keep their marriage together and their love alive.

This book is mis-marketed. It's not an escapist romp by two people looking to rekindle the spark of their sex life. This story isn't about the sex: it's about the emotional desolation of being in a long term relationship where you get into such a rut you no longer see each other or even yourselves, and about how to crawl your way out of that desert to find each other again. It's not sexy, but it is honest and emotional and really quite lovely.
